The 240 tons of manure produced daily by a pig herd of 20,000 pigs—after being processed in a special two-tiered pigsty—has its solid fraction transformed into highly valuable organic fertilizer, while the liquid fraction, once allowed to settle, is directly used for irrigating a ten-thousand-mu orchard base. “Manure is nothing more than a resource that’s been misplaced! Our pig manure is actually quite ‘fragrant’!” Recently, during an interview in Shuanghe Subdistrict, Rongchang District, Yin Ping'an, General Manager of Chongqing Riquan Agricultural and Pastoral Co., Ltd., proudly shared with a reporter from Chongqing Daily, “Our company adopts a circular, eco-friendly farming model that turns what was once stinking, foul-smelling manure into a valuable asset. Every year, we can ‘strike gold’ from manure, earning over 10 million yuan.”

The company has successfully completed the technological upgrade of its first low-concentration coalbed methane generator set. The Zhuji West Power Station project undertaken by the company marks the first time that a technological upgrade has been carried out on both the low-concentration coalbed methane generator set and its associated skid-mounted equipment, resulting in a significant improvement in the operational performance of the unit. On May 24, 2018, the assembly of the unit was smoothly completed, and it is now ready to be loaded onto trucks for shipment to the Zhuji West Power Station in Huainan. This low-concentration coalbed methane generator set has undergone improvements based on the original unit design, including an optimized combustion chamber and the adoption of deep-pit pistons that promote a faster combustion rate of coalbed methane. As a result, post-combustion emissions have been markedly reduced, and the power generation efficiency has increased compared to the previous-generation equipment.

Fengdu: Ecological cattle farming has transformed a pollution source into “golden opportunities.” For a long time, tens of thousands of tons of cattle manure piled up along the banks of the Yangtze River’s main stream and tributaries not only emitted a terrible stench but also polluted water quality—this was a major challenge facing the Three Gorges Reservoir area. However, thanks to ecological cattle-farming initiatives in the Three Gorges Reservoir region, this longstanding problem has now been completely resolved. Recently, Zhang Lincong, a large-scale cattle farmer from Feixian Cave Village, Baoluan Town, Fengdu County, Chongqing Municipality, has gained fame for his eco-friendly cattle-raising practices. At his farm, all cattle manure and urine are now fully utilized as resources, and no longer directly discharged into rivers and streams.
